The Harvey Wallbanger

Today, writes my friend Robert Haynes-Peterson at The Examiner, is National Harvey Wallbanger Day.

The drink, which is basically a Screwdriver with a splash of Galliano, was created in the 1950s in California. Here’s Robert’s updated recipe:

1 1/2 oz Non-grain vodka (like Ciroc or Vermont Gold)
1/2 Lemon, cut in half
1/2 Orange, cut in half
1/4 oz Galliano
Dash Orange Bitters
Absinthe Wash

Rinse the inside of a tall glass with absinthe and then muddle the fruit. Float Galliano L’Autentico (the resurrected higher-alcohol version) on top.
